Guess what? Moxie just hit the big 2! Yep, it’s our second birthday today, and I’m feeling all kinds of reflective and excited about what’s ahead.
Two years ago, I dove into the unknown with launching the business – armed with excitement, a touch of nervousness, and hella lot of… well, MOXIE (guts, grit, and determination), I managed to exceed my own expectations.
Opportunities seemed to effortlessly land in my lap, and my year-end accounts weren’t too shabby for a rookie (well, except for the tax bill – that one stung a bit).
Without getting too woo woo about it all, I genuinely believe that when you’re excited and passionate about your business, it shines through everything you do, opening doors you didn’t even know existed. But, when facing personal challenges they can swing the other way too.
Last year, reality hit hard. Personal challenges threw a curveball at me and Moxie. Motivation? Down the drain. Routine? What routine? Desire to tackle new business? Non-existent. Thankfully, the previous year’s success allowed me to focus on existing clients without drowning in the chaos of too many new ones.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom though! With my amazing team, we still knocked it out of the park for our clients. I’ll be sharing more on that in another blog real soon! We snagged some great creative projects and campaigns which kept us on our toes and delivered exceptional results – filling lots of job vacancies, launching new corporate values, increasing brand awareness and sales.
2023 highlights
- Exhibiting at the Anglia Business Expo (and winning a VIP experience at Newmarket Racecourse).
- Launching ProspHER in Colchester where I pushed through my fears of public speaking to share my story to a room full of like-minded female business owners and career go-getters.
- Finally launching the Moxie website – took me long enough, but hey, better late than never!
- Appointing my sister as my Business Development Manager – she’s a force to be reckoned with!
- Having the flexibility to take time out to tick places off of my travel bucket list: Lisbon, Ibiza, Seville and Stockholm.
2023 lessons
- Trust that gut feeling. If it doesn’t feel right, gracefully step away. It’s tough but liberating to say, “Thanks, but no thanks.”
- Networking is incredibly powerful, running your own business can feel lonely at times and networking really helped me bounce back.
- I need to be less of a control freak…
I’m ready and raring to go for the year ahead, I can’t wait to continue supporting my lovely loyal clients, taking on new clients, challenges and projects this year.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish my clients, freelancers, business contacts, suppliers and supporters a very happy and successful new year!
